What is Text N Talk?
Our Text N Talk service allows you to make very cheap international calls from your UK mobile with no need to set up an account. The service operates on a pre-pay basis and calls are made using the available credit, which can be topped up on request.
How are calls paid for?
You buy Text N Talk credit by sending a text message from your mobile. If for example, you top up by £3, you get £3 credit to use within the app and the £3 will be taken from your available phone credit.
How do I top up?
Select the amount you want to top up by £3, £5 or £10. Select “OK” when prompted. A text message is formed with the word “IPHONE” in the subject field and is sent automatically from your phone. You will receive an immediate confirmation text message with details of your credit.
I have sent a top up but got no credit, why?
Payment for your top up is taken from your mobile phone credit. If, for example, you use a Pay as you Go phone and only have £2 credit, you will not be able to buy a £3 top up as you won’t have enough credit.
How do I find the calling rate for a particular destination?
In our app select the “rates” screen, search for your destination and the rate will be displayed in pence per minute.
My balance will not display, why?
In order to access the balance screen you need to have a WiFi or 3G connection. This is needed to update your balance. If the screen will not display please move position and try again.
How do I make a call?
The service is used by calling an access number. We have made it easier for you and designed our app in such a way that we do this for you.
1. If you want to call a contact – first top up your phone so that you have credit. Then go to the “call” screen. Select “Call contact”. Search for the contact in your list of contacts and select the number. A confirmation screen will appear, select “Yes”. Our app will then call the access number followed by your contact’s number. You don’t have to do anything else. Just wait to be connected.
2. Calling a one-off number – first top up your phone so that you have credit. Then go to the “call” screen. Select “Call Now”. Enter the number you wish to call, including the international code. For example, for Ireland use 00353 XXXXXXXX. Then select “Call”. We will then call the access number followed by the international number.
If you are not using our app, to make a call, dial the access number 0208 497 1007 then your full international number when prompted.
Are there any administration, subscription or other fees?
Surcharge to dial 0800 access is 1p per minute. Payphone surcharge 10p per minute. A connection fee applies equal to the cost of a one minute call. Calls to the 020 access number are charged by your service provider or can be called by using your free inclusive minutes.
Is there a maximum amount of top ups that I am allowed in one day?
Yes, depending on your provider you can top up with up to £20 in one day i.e. 4 X £5 top ups. Some networks restrict the number of top ups per day.
Tell me more about the FREE credit?
The first time you send for a £5 or £10 top up, we will give you an extra 10% FREE. This applies to new customers only.
My friend has no IPhone. Can they use the service?
No problem. From their mobile, they send a text with the subject “IPHONE” to 67400 for £10 credit, to 80077 for £5 credit or to 84459 for £3 credit. This will cost them £10/£5 or £3. They will receive a text message back with full instructions.
Can the service be used outside the UK?
No, this service is designed to give you very cheap international calls from a UK mobile.
What if I have sent a text requesting a top up, but have not received a confirmation message back?
Generally a confirmation message is sent instantaneously, however very occasionally for example at peak times the mobile networks maybe congested which means that the confirmation message maybe delayed. Do not resend the message as you will be charged twice. If after a couple of hours you have not received the confirmation message please contact our customer services team who will be able to identify what the issue is.
You must have a UK mobile and have the bill payer's permission. This is a reverse-billed text service, cost of text to 67400 will be charged at £10 plus your standard network text charge, cost of text to 80077 will be charged at £5.00 plus your standard network text charge and the cost of text to 84459 will be charged at £3.00 plus your standard network text charge. A confirmation text informing you that your mobile has been charged £1.50/£3/£5/£10 will be sent shortly thereafter. Credit lasts for 90 days from day of first use. Cost of calls to the 0208 access number will be charged at your standard mobile rate to a landline or can be used as part of your mobile inclusive minutes. Calls charged per second. Prices are subject to changed without prior notice. Calls made to mobiles may cost more, unless specifically mentioned in the destination list. If you choose to join us as a subscriber you agree to be automatically charged a further £1.50/£3/£5/£10 before your credit is about to run out. We will then charge you £1.50/£3/£5/£10 and top-up your mobile with £1.50/£3/£5/£10 + £1 FREE of extra talk credit. To unsubscribe simply text STOP to 80077 at any time.
